Compass Health Center is seeking a Director of Medical Group Strategy & Operations to join our growing organization. We are looking for a strategic and operational leader to develop and formalize a best-in-class, future looking medical group model to support and grow our psychiatric service. Reporting to our Chief of Strategy & Operations this newly created position will become a valuable member of our leadership team.

Compass Health Center has become a leader in psychiatric intensive crisis-care (PHP/IOP) services and we’re looking to continue to evolve our psychiatric model to support our continued growth leveraging our large existing presence in the space (with over 20 existing prescribers).

We are looking to create a differentiated model to continue to attract high-quality talent for our patients with a set of flexible service options and innovative approaches to care. This role will both develop and run this group going forward. We’re looking to bring fresh thinking and an innovative approach to member psychiatrists which we believe will result in first rate patient care.

This role is ideal for someone looking to build something from the ground up and help provide individuals with long-term access to critical mental health services in the community. We are looking for those who want both a strategic and operational role within a growing mental health organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develops the strategy for Compass Health Center’s Medical Group
  • Leads (from concept to execution) – the design of Compass Health Center’s psychiatric service entity including the specific service model, value proposition, financial projections, structure, recruitment, leadership identification, etc. – in partnership with Chief of Strategy and Compass Executive Team
  • Establishes and manages P&L for the developed entity
  • Serves as the ongoing director of the psychiatry group including
  • Working closely with the member psychiatrists to ensure seamless delivery of patient care and delivery against leader responsibility
  • Clarify and formalize the service model and expectations between the facilities and the psychiatric practitioners
  • Contracting on behalf of the group (e.g., insurance, payors, vendors, etc.) and identifying potential synergies between the group and the facilities (e.g., billing)
  • Resolving issues that develop (e.g., scheduling, credentialing, etc.)
  • Maintains effective communication with staff at all levels about needs
  • Develops and recruits future facility practitioners and others in market based on their needs and opportunities of value to the new medical group
  • Represent the medical group in internal discussions including
  • Human Resources regarding staffing needs, completion and delivery of annual performance review for member psychiatrists
  • IT regarding technology needs, new service requirements
  • Services regarding call center, utilization review, billing, etc.
  • Operations / nursing to ensure safe work environment
  • Oversees necessary training and onboarding of new psychiatrists
  • Develops the recruitment strategy for new psychiatrists (in combination with the marketing department)
  • Assists in the development of business / resource plans for new sites. Oversees the implementation of new sites including staff recruitment, development of operating procedures, and financial implications
  • Supports other group specific strategic growth opportunities which could include new treatment delivery options (e.g., virtual care / telehealth, part time models) and new services (e.g., esketamine, DMT, pediatrics)
  • Track and manage data to manage financial and service level requirements of the group in relation to the facility and group owners / members
  • Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of management experience, 5+ in healthcare
  • Background/degree in Healthcare Administration degree preferred
  • Financial capabilities and ability to run and manage a P&L
  • Ability to analyze and solve operational issues independently and creatively required.
  • In-depth knowledge of private practice systems, including medical practice operations and supervision.
  • Knowledge of insurance coverage systems, including but not limited to co-payments, referrals, HMO, PPO and capitated products required.
  • Strong leadership and people management qualities.
