Job Description


The Hospice CNA is a paraprofessional member of the Hospice team who works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the patient’s/client’s needs. The hospice aide is responsible for observing patients/clients, reporting these observations and documenting observations and care performed. The Hospice Aide will be assigned in a manner which promotes quality, continuity and safety of the patient.

CNA  Position Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age and meets the training requirements in accordance with State and Federal laws.
  • Must be active on the IDPH registry for Certified Nursing Assistants.
  • Able to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
  • Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
  • Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured frail and impaired.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • CNA  Physical Requirements:

    This position requires the ability to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds. Job frequently requires bending and lifting, push/pull maneuvers and occasionally carrying items that weigh > 20 pounds. Job frequently requires standing, walking, reaching (floor to waist; waist to shoulder; above shoulder) and talking. Fine motor control/precision is required. Visual acuity and hearing to perform required C.N.A. skills is required in addition to see information in print and/or electronically. This position does involve exposure to chemicals/disinfectants and bodily fluids.

    CNA  Continuing Education Requirements:

    Ingalls Home Care personnel are expected to participate in appropriate continuing education as may be requested and/or required by their immediate supervisor. In addition, personnel are expected to accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job-related skills and abilities and as required by licensing standards. All Health Aides must maintain a rolling annual 12 hours of continuing education.
